StarGarden MoonWatch for the Full Moon, December 4th, 2006

Hello Everyone,

I’m Maria Theresa Maggi,  intuitive astrologer here on KRFP in Moscow, Idaho, and you’re listening to the StarGarden MoonWatch for the full moon of December 4, 2006.

The moon is full this month in Gemini, the sign of the twins. Gemini brings us the reciprocity of  communication. As the sign of the mind, Gemini seeks variety and connection. As the first air sign, it not only blows in new ideas and proposals, but keeps our hands busy, and our lungs distributing air throughout the body. In the spirit of twinning that Gemini represents, it’s worth noting that these parts of the body it has special affinity with also come in pairs. Gemini’s companion planet, Mercury, is the messenger between heaven and earth. As a fast talker and a quick thinker, Gemini  also presides over the marketplace, or any crossroads where  the vision of ideas and their practical application trade places.

When the moon is in Gemini, we may feel emotionally restless. As a predominantly mental sign, Gemini likes to be on the move at no less than the speed of thought, and the wit, words and gestures of anyone with strong Gemini energy in their birth chart often demonstrate this tendency. Gemini energy can make us inclined to talk about emotion while sometimes skipping over the actual experience of feeling it. However, at this full moon, which is the culmination of a very intense lunar beginning in  Scorpio, Gemini may also give us emotional energy to consciously shift the way we communicate, both in the words we choose and the gestures we make. We may feel a special pull to work things out over the phone ( a natural Gemini venue), in  our immediate environment, neighborhood, or with our siblings.

The presence of Jupiter, Venus and Pluto in addition to the sun in the opposite sign of Sagittarius may suggest this versatility in communication can also stretch across the distance of miles, history or personal philosophy. Mars and Mercury, Gemini’s companion planet, linger at the end of Scorpio where this lunar cycle began, reminding us to reach deep beyond superficial wit or equivocation to surrender and commit to a larger purpose in our thoughts and actions before just any words come toppling out of our mouths.

At the same time, Gemini may bring us a way to “air” the deep inevitable, unstoppable truths we are facing with a lightheartedness that helps ease their weight. At the very end of the Winnie the Pooh books, Christopher Robin takes Pooh up to the enchanted top of the Hundred Acre wood for some time alone together that also signifies a moment when   Christopher Robin’s realizes his childhood will come to an end. Here is what they say:

Then suddenly again, Christopher  Robin, who was still looking at the world, with is chin in his hands, called out “Pooh!”
“Yes?” said Pooh.
“When I’m—when—Pooh!”
“Yes, Christopher Robin?”
“I’m not going to do Nothing any more,”
“Never again?”
“Well, not so much. They don’t let you.”
Pooh waited for him to go on, but he was silent again.
“Yes, Christopher Robin?” said Pooh helpfully.
“Pooh, when I’m—you know—when I’m not doing Nothing, will you come up here sometimes?”
“Just me?”
“Yes, Pooh.”
“Will you be here, too?”
“Yes, Pooh, I will be, really, I promise I will be, Pooh.”
“That’s good,” said Pooh.
“Pooh, promise you wont forget about me, ever. Not even when I’m a hundred.”
How old shall I be then?”
Pooh nodded.
“I promise,” he said.
Still with his eyes on the world Christopher Robin put out a hand and felt for Pooh’s paw.
“Pooh,” said Christopher Robin earnestly “if I—if I’m not quite—“ he stopped and tried again—
“Pooh, whatever happens you will understand, won’t you?”
“Understand what?”
“Oh nothing.” he laughed and jumped to his feet. “Come on!”
“Where?” said Pooh.
“Anywhere,” said Christopher Robin.

Here are some suggestions for each of the sun signs for how to face an ending while also being open to whatever may come next:

Aries: You may feel the time is now ripe to talk or to move on a legal or philosophical matter you have not slowed down to address. The history of how you got here looms large, as you create a responsive awareness.

Taurus: A partner or relative may surprise you now by mirroring something you need to be aware of in your own history. This could weigh heavily on your heart, but looking at the past can also help you heal in the present.

Gemini: In relationships, you may have to reach a little farther than you’re used to doing. It can’t all be talked away, so you may have to be flexible about taking action that enhances your ability to share how you feel.

Cancer: You may teach someone how to find his or her own voice, or tell a story that has not been told. As you try to do so, your tendency to keep your own beliefs to yourself could be challenged, and you may speak out.

Leo: There may be tension between your own philosophy of self-expression and changes a partner is going through. Or your communication with groups or friends could prompt you to examine your actions more closely.

Virgo: Perhaps a feeling of security about the future or your home is expanding into new frontiers at this time. Or you may be talking about deeply felt ideas in public. You are interested in the emotional variety at hand.

Libra: You may feel like taking a trip or networking about a new course of study. Or your reading or conversations could take you to far away places without leaving your neighborhood. Either way you are exploring.

Scorpio: You could be relying on a partner or a legacy to help establish a foundation for travel or resources that provide a means to an end. You have big expensive plans right now.  Go slowly,  take things one step at a time.

Sagittarius: You could be at a dramatic intersection of new opportunity and powerful endings. Sometimes it’s hard to balance both. An attitude of flexibility and neutrality in partnerships can help you get there.

Capricorn: You may have an opportunity to discern and practice powerful and life changing spiritual understanding. This opportunity depends on your willingness to talk about whatever is necessary to that process.

Aquarius:  A child or a loved one may be expanding their horizons through education or travel. Or you may feel like expressing your own ideas in these areas. Lively conversation helps create an expansive future.

Pisces: Perhaps you want to be out in the world exploring new options. Yet you also want to connect this to your home life. An opportunity for emotional flexibility and balance is present if you can practice what you preach.

Gemini gives us the gift of the ability to shift gears. As the moon wanes in the next two weeks, let us keep that sense of flexibility in motion while we release what has passed and move toward the invisible and unknown wonder of a new beginning. As we let the winds of change blow through, they can bring us new inspiration to help us shine our lights, shed some light, and keep it light.
